Tariq Muhammad Ezzedine*
Tariq Muhammad Ezzedine (طارق محمد عز الدين), born in 1974, was a military commander in Islamic Jihad‘s al-Quds Brigades (AQB). Although based in Gaza he was reportedly involved in AQB activities in the West Bank where Israel claimed he was attempting to develop the organisation’ capacity to launch rockets against Israeli targets from the West Bank city of Jenin.
Ezzedine was first arrested by Israel during the first intifada. In total, he spent some thirteen years in Israeli jails. He was killed in an Israeli airstrike in May 2023.
