Jaysh al-Umma (جيش الأمة) is an al-Qaeda inspired Salafi-jihadi group which emerged around 2006 in Khan Younis (Gaza). The group is responsible for rocket fire against Israel and is thought to have been active fighting Israeli forces during the 2012 and 2014 Gaza wars. It has reportedly warned about Iranian influence in the Gaza Strip and criticised Hamas for not applying Sharia law.
