Jibreen al-Bakri (Governor of Hebron)
Major General Jibreen al-Bakri (جبرين البكري), born in 1961, has been a member of Fatah’s Revolutionary Council since 2009. He was governor of Hebron between 2018 and 2023; and before that governor of Bethlehem (2014-2018) and Nablus (2009-2014).
Al-Bakri has been arrested 17 times by Israel and spent seven years in prison. Upon his release, he held several security positions with the Palestinian Authority‘s Preventive Security, including as its Hebron director for six years.
