Jibreen al-Bakri (Governor of Hebron)

Major General Jibreen al-Bakri (جبرين البكري) was born in 1961. In 2018, he became governor of Hebron. He was previously governor of Bethlehem (2014-2018) and Nablus (2009-2014). He has also been a member of Fatah’s Revolutionary Council since 2009.

Al-Bakri has been arrested 17 times by Israel and spent seven years in prison. Upon his release, he held several security positions with the Palestinian Authority's Preventive Security, including as its Hebron director for six years.
