Military Intelligence

Military Intelligence is responsible for collecting intelligence on the external military environment, but in practice operates as an internal security organisation to repress opposition within Fatah, including those serving in other security forces. It has an estimated force of approximately 1,700 personnel.

It is part of the Palestinian Authority's National Security Forces (NSF) and has been led by Major General Zakaria Musleh since 2015. It was previously lead by a number of Brigadier Generals: Moussa Arafat (1995-2005); Bashir Nafi (2005); Hisham Abid (2006); Marwan Abu Fida (2006); Sulayman Amran (2006-2007); Jamal al-Aqad (2007); Majed Faraj (2007-2009); Nidal Abu Dukhan (2009-2012); and Ibrahim al-Balawi (2012-2015).
