Jihad Shaker al-Ghanam*
Jihad Shaker al-Ghannam (جهاد شاكر الغنام), born in 1961 in Rafah, was the secretary general of the military council of the al-Quds Brigades – Islamic Jihad‘s military wing. He was killed in the southern Gaza town of Rafah by an Israeli airstrike in May 2023.
Israel previously deported al-Ghanam to Lebanon and subsequently took part in fighting against Israeli forces in Beirut. He joined Islamic Jihad in the 1980s and helped establish its military wing in 2000.
