Ayman Nofal*
Ayman Nofal (أيمن نوفل) was a senior member of Hamas‘ Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades. He was a member of al-Qassam’s military leadership in charge of military operations for Gaza’s ‘central sector’. Prior to this, he led Hamas’ internal security agency.
Nofal was born in 1965 in Gaza’s Bureij Refugee Camp and was involved in organising attacks against Israel during the first and second intifadas. He had been detained on several occasions by both Israel and the Palestinian Authority.
Nofal was killed in an Israeli airstrike in October 2023.
