Talal Naji

Talal Naji (طلال ناجي) is the secretary general of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine – General Command (PFLP-GC). He was the group’s deputy secretary general since 1973 and succeeds Ahmad Jibril, the PFLP-GC’s founder, who died in July 2021. In 1962 he joined the Palestine Liberation Front before moving with Jibril to the PFL-PC.

Naji was born in 1946 in Nazareth and earned a PhD in political sciences from Moscow in the 1980s. He is based in Damascus. He reportedly lost an arm and an eye in a grenade explosion while undergoing military training.
