Mtanes Shehadeh
Mtanes Shehadeh (امطانس شحادة) served as chairman of Balad between February 2019 and January 2021, succeeding Jamal Zahalka. He lost re-election to Sami Abu Shehadeh. He was a member of the Knesset during this time.
Shehadeh was previously a project coordinator at Mada al-Carmel, the Arab Center for Applied Social Research in Haifa.
In October 2023, Mtanes Shehadeh was arrested by Israeli authorities over his opposition to the war in Gaza.
