Teresa Gouveia has held multiple government positions in Portugal, serving as Secretary of State for Culture, Secretary of State for Environment, Minister for Environment, and Minister of Foreign Affairs. In addition to her various positions in government, she was a Member of the Portuguese Parliament for the Social Democratic Party. In parallel to her political career, she has always been active in the cultural sphere. She was Trustee of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, President of the Serralves Foundation, and a Member of its Executive Board. She also served as Governor of the Executive Committee of the European Cultural Foundation, President of the Council for Cultural Cooperation at the Council of Europe, and a Member of the Consultative Council at the University of Lisbon. Gouveia graduated from the University of Lisbon.
