The European Council on Foreign Relations is delighted to invite you to our webinar on what the latest developments mean for Europe’s engagement in the Sahel.

Mali’s decision to expel French ambassador Joel Meyer marks a significant escalation in tensions between the two countries. Amid rising political tensions, what will Germany, France, and other Europeans decide on their future military deployments and stabilisation operations in the Sahel? With other great powers like Russia reportedly moving in, can the EU really afford to withdraw from the Sahel, given its significance for European security?  The EU’s Representative for the Sahel, Emanuela del Re, will give us exclusive insights into developments on the ground, and how the EU intends to plan its future engagement in the Sahel.
