On November 29 and 30, ECFR Berlin office and Asia & China Programme are holding the third annual Japan-Europe Form for Global Issues in Berlin. At a time when the Economic Partnership Agreement is being negotiated and the EU-Japan relations are reaching a new stage, this Forum aims at fostering a substantial and sustainable Europe-Japan strategic partnership.

The Welcoming remarks and the First session on “Promoting liberal values: an assessment”  taking place in the morning of November 29 will be opened to the public. On this occasion, we would be delighted to welcome you at :

The Welcoming remarks will be addressed by Francois Godement, Director of the Asia & China programme at ECFR, Mark Speich, State Secretary for Federal, European and International Affairs, ‎State of North Rhine-Westphalia, and Toshihiro Aiki, Deputy Director-General of the European Affairs Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The discussion on “Promoting liberal values: an assessment” will be chaired by Hanns Maull, Senior Distinguished Fellow, SWP, and led by Anthony Dworkin, Senior Policy Fellow, ECFR,  Kazuya Sakamoto, Professor, Osaka University, and Volker Stanzel, former Ambassador of Germany to Japan.
