The EU is mired in the greatest crisis of its history, one that threatens its very existence. How can this situation be turned around?  Lord Giddens will suggest at this event that this is the time for a far-reaching rethink of the European project as a whole.

Prof Lord Giddens is one of the most prominent modern sociologists and the author of Turbulent and Mighty Continent: What Future for Europe? (2013). From 1997 to 2003 he was Director of the LSE. He is currently a Life Fellow of King's College, Cambridge. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Science and the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.

Hans Kundnani is research director at ECFR.  He is also an associate fellow at the Institute for German Studies at Birmingham University.
