Rethinking European Futures

On 12 and 13 January, Rethink: Europe gathered over 35 think tankers and intellectuals in Berlin for a lively and vigorous debate on Europe’s strategic future. The seminar built on eight scenarios which sought to envisage what Europe might look like by the year 2025. Participants sought to unpack the structural and analytical issues which shape, influence, and potentially undermine foreign policy-making in the EU; with more than two-thirds of attendees coming from outside Germany, a sundry of distinct perspectives was present.

The seminar will be followed by a second workshop in March, at which policy practitioners will be asked to expand on the ideas discussed so far and derive concrete implications and solutions for EU foreign policy. We would like to thank all participants for their insights and involvement.
