The European Council on Foreign Relations welcomes the United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres in his virtual address to Europe, speaking about the continent’s role in the international fight against climate change. This comes ahead of December’s European Council meeting where leaders will agree on new emissions reduction targets for 2030.

His address is being followed by an online panel discussion with ministers from Sweden, Poland, France and Germany, on the economic, energy, and diplomatic opportunities that lie ahead for Europe.
