Rafa Salama (رافع سلامة) was a member of Hamas’s Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades and the group’s military leader for Khan Younis. He was killed by Israel during the summer of 2024.
Israel blamed Salama for the assassination of a Shin Bet agent based in Gaza in 2005 (prior to Israel’s withdrawal) and subsequent abduction of an Israeli soldier, Gilad Shalit, in 2007.
