Biography

Lena Krause is the Africa programme assistant at the European Council on Foreign Relations, based in the Berlin office. Prior to joining ECFR, she was a campaign assistant for the 2024 European Parliament election with the “Volt Germany” party, a subsidiary of the pan-European “Volt Europa” movement.

Previously, she worked as programme coordinator in the alumni team of Training for International Diplomats at the German Federal Foreign Office and programme coordinator at the Global Diplomacy Lab. She was also research assistant at the German Institute of Development and Sustainability’s Managing Global Governance programme.

Krause has studied in Erfurt, Madrid, Maastricht, and Cologne. She holds a BA in international relations and social sciences, as well as an MA in political science. She also holds an MSc in European Studies, in which she specialised in EU foreign policy and qualitative research methods. Her research interests lie at the intersection of feminist and post-colonial thought in EU foreign policy and Africa-China relations.
