Jonathan Fulton is a visiting fellow at the European Council on Foreign Relations. He is an associate professor of political science at Zayed University in Abu Dhabi and a non-resident senior fellow at the Atlantic Council. Fulton has written widely on the topic of China-Middle East relations for both academic and popular publications. He is the author of “Building the Belt and Road Initiative in the Arab World: China’s Middle East Math” and editor of The Routledge Handbook of China-Middle East Relations.
Fulton received his PhD from the University of Leicester, where his dissertation focused on Chinese relations with the Gulf Cooperation Council member states. He also holds degrees from Staffordshire University, the University of Southern Queensland and Dalhousie University.
His teaching and research interests focus on China’s relations with the Gulf Arab monarchies, international relations of the Gulf and international relations of East Asia.
