Member of the German parliament
Chantal Kopf has been a directly elected member of the German Bundestag for the Freiburg constituency since 2021 and was re-elected in 2025. She is a full member of the Committee on European Union Affairs and a substitute member of the Committee on Research, Technology, Space and Technology Assessment. She is also a member of the Franco-German Parliamentary Assembly, vice-president of Europa-Union Deutschland, a council member of ECFR and a member of Atlantik-Brücke.
She serves as spokesperson for European policy of the Green parliamentary group, covering a broad range of European and foreign policy issues, including the EU budget and trade policy, democracy and the rule of law, asylum and migration, Franco-German relations, and the EU’s relations with the United Kingdom and Switzerland.
Chantal Kopf holds a BA (2017) and an MA (2021) in political science from the University of Freiburg, where she also studied English and American literature. Before entering the Bundestag, she worked in the constituency offices of Kerstin Andreae, then a member of the Bundestag (2016–2019), and Thomas Marwein, a member of the state parliament (2019–2021). From 2018 to 2021, she also served as district chair of Alliance 90/The Greens in Freiburg. In 2023, she participated in the Atlantik-Brücke Young Leaders Programme.
