Biography

Beth Oppenheim is a policy fellow in the Middle East and North Africa programme at the European Council on Foreign Relations, based in the London office.

Her areas of interest include Israel-Palestine and Israel’s regional relations. She was previously based in Tel Aviv-Jaffa, where she was a policy adviser at the Initiative for the Middle East at the Tony Blair Institute. Prior to this, she was director of international relations at Gisha, an Israeli human rights NGO that focuses on Palestinian freedom of movement.

In London, Oppenheim was a research fellow at the Centre for European Reform, covering EU foreign policy in the Middle East and hosting its podcast. She has commented for international media including on the BBC and for CNN, the Independent, Foreign Policy, the Telegraph and Haaretz. She has written and conducted research for think-tanks including Carnegie and International Crisis Group.

Oppenheim studied English Literature at the University of Cambridge, earning an MA (Cantab).
