Brexit is 'soap opera' says German economist

A leading economist in Berlin has described a transition period for the UK to leave the European Union as a "stupid idea," while the country remains in the single market.

As both sides of the Brexit debate continue to argue, about the best route for the British to achieve a smooth exit from the EU, we called on two economists for their analysis of the latest developments.

Roger Bootle, the founder of Capital Economics in London, who supports the UK exit and first Professor Sebastian Dullien, at the University of Applied Sciences in Berlin, who tells the BBC's Mike Johnson why he is concerned about the UK's strategy.
