Ireland and the United Kingdom joined the EU on the same day 41 years ago. But as an intensive debate on Britain’s future membership grows, what is the perspective from Ireland and what impact does it have on the relationship between the two countries?

Charles Flanagan is the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade of Ireland. He was Fine Gael Spokesperson on Northern Ireland from 1997-2000 and Vice Chair of the British-Irish Parliamentary group from 1997 to 2000.

Graham Bishop is an independent Consultant on EU integration, focussing on the political implications of ever-deepening eurozone economic integration .  

Titia Ketelaar is the UK & Ireland correspondent for NRC Handelsblad.
