Bridging expectations: The EU’s vision for 2025 and the role of the Polish presidency
Hybrid event
On 4 December 2024 Polityka Insight and the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR) organised an event in Brussels focused on the priorities of the Polish EU Presidency. The event aimed to present and discuss Poland’s key objectives and plans for its EU Presidency term. It also served as a prelude to our annual conference, the Warsaw European Conversation, which will take place on 14 March 2025, in Warsaw.
As Poland assumes the EU Council Presidency on January 1, 2025, a pivotal moment emerges for the European Union. With the new European Commission eager to demonstrate its effectiveness during its first 100 days in office, and the war in Ukraine entering its fourth year, Europe faces unprecedented challenges.
At the same time, the incoming administration of Donald Trump ushers in a period of uncertainty for transatlantic relations. With a constructive vision, Poland seeks to leverage its presidency to strengthen Europe’s unity, fortify its strategic autonomy, and redefine transatlantic relations in a way that balances continued partnership. How can Poland shape a cohesive EU response to these geopolitical and internal realities?
