ECFR and Mercator today launched our new collection of essays entitled 'What does Turkey Think?' in Berlin, at the International Club of the German Foreign Ministry. Panelists included ECFR senior policy fellow Dimitar Bechev, who edited the collection, Andre Wilkens, Director of the Mercator Centre Berlin and Director of Strategy, Sinan Ulgen, head of EDAM and Hans Eichel, a former German minister of finance.
Three of the authors also took part: Hakan Altinay, senior fellow at the Brookings Institution; Suat Kiniklioglu, member of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey; and Ivan Krastev, Chairman of the Board at the Centre for Liberal Strategies and a key driving force behind the WDTT? project.
The Turkish ambassador to Germany attended, along with a range of journalists, NGO staff and representatives of the German Foreign Office, and the discussion was lively and interesting. there will be more launches in other European capitals to follow.
