ECFR's London office launches with an event on "Europe's crisis, Britain's challenge?"

16 Jun 10

ECFR's London office had its formal launch on 15th June with an event looking into "Europe's crisis, Britain's challenge?" The event was co-hosted at ECFR's new office in Westminster by the Centre for European Reform.

An opening seminar looked into British foreign policy in Europe and the world. ECFR senior policy fellow Daniel Korski moderated the session, involving Lord Ashdown, Timothy Garton Ash, Charles Grant and Sir Malcolm Rifkind. This was followed by a speech by the Rt Hon Lord Howell, minister of state at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. A second seminar followed, looking into how the crises affecting Europe would play out in the longer run. This was moderated by ECFR Director Mark Leonard, with a panel of Emma Bonino, Joschka Fischer, Lord Kerr, Anatole Kaletsky and George Soros. The audio of this second seminar will be uploaded onto the website shortly.

Here's a slideshow of photos taken during the seminars.

The introductory speech at a drinks reception afterwards was given by President Martti Ahtisaari.
