Wie kann Europa neue Anreize schaffen um Regierungen und Bürger von europäischen Lösungen für die Reform von Politik, Wirtschaft und der europäischen Institutionen zu überzeugen?
"Europe in a world of crisis". Both a timely and broad topic. It was also the theme for ECFR's latest council meeting, held in Stockholm (the current seat of the EU Presidency) on 10-12 May.
As well as ECFR's council and staff, Dr Zbigniew Brzezinski (former United States National Security Advisor to President Jimmy Carter) and Fyodor Lukyanov (Editor in Chief of Russia in Global Affairs) were in attendance as distinguished guests.
The potency and breadth of the theme lead to
thought-provoking debates on a number of issues: the impact of the crisis on
Europe and ECFR's work, the geopolitics of the crisis and the EU's role in a ‘new
world order', the future of the climate change movement, EU enlargement
(specifically the Eastern Partnership) and the effect of the crisis on human
rights and democracy were all discussed by some of the most strategic minds in Europe.
