Wie kann Europa neue Anreize schaffen um Regierungen und Bürger von europäischen Lösungen für die Reform von Politik, Wirtschaft und der europäischen Institutionen zu überzeugen?
ECFR Berlin in cooperation with Stiftung Mercator hosted a conference entitled: “From a European Germany to a German Europe? Germany’s way into the 21st Century: 1949 – 1989 – 2009”. Participants included a dozen of the most renowned German and international historians and political scientists, as well as senior journalists, and the event was generously hosted by the Ambassador of the Netherlands.
You can read his introductory remarks here (German), and a blog post about the fascinating debate from Ulrike Guérot, head of ECFR's Berlin office, here.
The conference follows another major public event in Berlin as part of ECFR's 'Germany in Europe' programme, which featured Jürgen Habermas and took place at the beginning of April. Next month, ECFR in cooperation with the Stiftung Mercator will publish a collection of essays under the title “What Does Germany Think?” A pubic debate to mark the launch of this publication will take place on June 28th.
