On the passing of Bronislaw Geremek

We are deeply saddened by the tragic news of Bronislaw Geremek's death on 13 July, 2008. Professor Geremek was one of Europe's most charismatic intellectuals - a man of incredible dedication to uniting a continent that he saw ravaged by war and separated by ideology during his lifetime. He spent his life fighting against injustice and prejudice in all their forms, and has made a unique and irreplaceable contribution to building democracy in Europe through ideas and debate. We will miss him very much and will do our utmost to uphold his legacy through ECFR's future work.
